Canvas dashboards
Compose a page out of mixed cards.
Some pages are a list. Others are an argument, and need to be laid out like one.
A canvas dashboard is organised into section tabs across the top, each holding its own layout — so one dashboard can carry a summary, a detail page and a set of tables without any of them crowding the others.
Add offers nine card types: Text, KPI, KPI Chart, Deep Drill, Chart Genius, Pivot Table, Waterfall Chart, Delta Bar Chart and Table Dashboard.
Two of those are worth noticing. Text means a canvas can carry written commentary beside the figures rather than only numbers. And Table Dashboard means a whole statement can sit as one card inside a canvas — the types nest.
The Table Dashboard card links to a table dashboard that already exists; it does not create one. Build the table dashboard first, then add the card and point it at it. The same is true of Deep Drill, which surfaces a drill somebody has already configured.
Cards span the width or sit side by side, so a section can be a single wide chart or a row of three.
The header carries Print Mode rather than a PDF export, which lays the page out for printing rather than exporting a file. The title has a pencil for renaming, and Manage Access sits alongside.
