Lesson 1 of 5 · 3 min
Financial planning
Enter and edit a plan against the P&L structure.
Every comparison you have made against plan was made against numbers somebody typed here.
Planning → Financial Planning shows the planning values for the P&L structure you already know: the hierarchy down the left, months across, then Total, Unit and CAGR. Use the PnL selector to choose the relevant P&L structure. Liquidity Analysis provides the related view of anticipated cash flow and cash reserves; other available structures depend on the tenant's configuration.
Two things differ from Financial Reporting. The date control takes a year rather than a range, because a plan is made a year at a time. And Update values is the point of the page — this is where figures are entered. In edit mode, type - to remove an existing value, and do not forget to click Save when you finish.
Displayed level works as it does on the statement, a search narrows to one row when the tree is long, and the grouping selector dropdown lets you change how the rows are grouped.
Because the structure is shared, a row that exists in Financial Reporting exists here. Plan and actual are the same skeleton with different numbers in it — which is what makes the comparison meaningful.
