Lesson 3 of 8 · 2 min
Choosing the period
Set the statement to the period the question is about.
The columns aren't fixed at twelve months — that's just one setting.
The date picker offers six granularities: Month, Quarter, Half-Year, Year, LTM and Custom, alongside a list of years.
The choice decides the columns. Ask for a year and you get months across the table; ask for Quarter and you get quarters. LTM — the last twelve months — is the one people reach for least and need most, because it rolls with the calendar instead of restarting every January.
Custom takes an arbitrary start and end, for the periods that don't fit a calendar: a funding round, a campaign, the months since a new pricing model launched.
Arrows either side of the picker step forward and back a period at a time.

Try this in your tenant — put the same statement on Year and then on LTM, and see which months move.

The granularity decides the columns — nothing about twelve months is fixed.
LTM rolls with the calendar instead of restarting in January.

Two quick questions
Practice only — nothing here is scored or recorded.
1. It's February and you want the last twelve months of trading, not two months of a new year. Which granularity?
2. You need the statement for the eight months since a pricing change. What do you use?
